Case study: Ada Twist, Scientist
Netflix asked me to rap with Ada Twist. Ada is the young Black scientist at the center of Ada Twist, Scientist, the animated series from the Obamas’ Higher Ground. I wrote my own verses for Brainstorm, a song from the show. They were impressed enough with the songwriting to invite me to Netflix to record it in person, and we filmed a music video while I was there. We made a second video too, where Ada and I find science all around us. Both premiered on the official Netflix Jr. channel.

The brief
I was already making science music. Netflix came to me with an idea for Ada Twist, Scientist, the animated series from the Obamas' Higher Ground, and asked me to remix Brainstorm, a song from the show.
My role
I wrote the verses for Brainstorm. Netflix was impressed enough with the songwriting to bring me in to record them in person, and we filmed a music video there. I then hosted a second video finding science in everyday life.
The outcome
Both videos premiered on the official Netflix Jr. channel and have passed 757,000 views.
How it happened

Netflix brought me the idea
I was already making science music. They came to me about Ada Twist, Scientist, the animated series from the Obamas' Higher Ground, with an idea to remix Brainstorm, a song from the show.

I wrote my own verses
Rather than perform something handed to me, I wrote my own verses for the track.

They brought me in to record it in person
The songwriting was what convinced them. Netflix had me lay it down in person instead of taking a remote file, and we filmed a music video while I was there.

Then we made a second video together
Ada and I went looking for science in everyday life. Both pieces premiered on the official Netflix Jr. channel.
